# Software engineering internship resume and application kit Build a project-first internship resume, then compare two summer 2027 software engineering opportunities checked against official employer listings. Editorial edition: 2026-10-22 Opportunity snapshot checked October 22, 2026. Availability can change before the next review. These two postings are a small selection, not a market survey. Employers do not endorse ResumeTurtle. The resume candidate and project below are fictional. Dated snapshot. Next source review due: 2026-10-29. Recheck the official source before applying. ## Atlassian — Software Engineer Intern, 2027 Summer U.S. Seattle, Washington or San Francisco, California Checked: 2026-10-22 Status at check: Open at check — application link present Application window: No closing date stated in the reviewed description. Put the strongest evidence near the top. Paid engineering experience is not required to describe substantial coursework or personal projects honestly. Avoid listing every language you have seen. For each selected project, show what you built, which parts you owned and how you checked that it worked. A local test is a local test, not proof of production scale. ## Worked internship resume Fictional student sample. This is reusable writing guidance, separate from the dated openings above. Use your actual graduation date, project scope and availability. ALEX RIVERA alex@example.com | [phone] | [GitHub / portfolio] EDUCATION Example University — BS Computer Science, expected May 2028 Relevant coursework: Data Structures, Algorithms, Databases TECHNICAL SKILLS Python, TypeScript, SQL, Git; unit testing; REST APIs PROJECTS Campus Equipment Checkout — course team project September–December [year] • Implemented a Python API and SQL schema to record equipment loans and returns for a four-student course project. • Added authorization checks so students could view their own loans; wrote tests for rejected requests. • Reproduced a duplicate-return bug with a test fixture and added a transaction check to prevent it. Transit Status Viewer — personal project May–July [year] • Built a TypeScript interface for a public transit feed and added empty, loading and request-failure states. • Documented setup steps and known API limits in the project README. EXPERIENCE Example Campus Help Desk — Student assistant September [year]–present | 8 hours/week • Logged support requests, reproduced login issues and documented steps for escalation. AVAILABILITY [Actual full-time dates and location constraints] ## Tailor to one posting without inventing experience For Atlassian, the sample can highlight the tested API and algorithms coursework because those facts address the listed fundamentals. For Databricks, the same API project can lead with the design, implementation and bug investigation. These are two small posting-specific decisions, not evidence that every employer favors the same skills. Weak: “Developed an app.” Better: “Implemented a Python API and SQL schema to record equipment loans and returns.” Add a measured result only if you recorded it, including the test conditions. Check each active listing weekly and again before applying; replace its status when it closes. An unspecified deadline stays unspecified. At the next recruiting season, verify the new posting and eligibility instead of changing only the year. The worked resume does not need a seasonal rewrite. ## Your checklist [ ] Verify graduation and enrollment eligibility. [ ] Check location and work authorization requirements. [ ] Open the official listing and confirm applications are still accepted. [ ] Replace every fictional project and skill with my own. [ ] Test portfolio links and remove private repository details. [ ] Save the submitted resume and application confirmation. ## Your editable resume outline [FULL NAME] [email] | [phone] | [city, state] EDUCATION [School / degree / expected graduation] [Relevant coursework] TECHNICAL SKILLS [Languages and tools you have used] PROJECTS [Project / dates / repository link] • [What you built / tools / your ownership] • [How you tested it / scope or limitations] EXPERIENCE [Employer or volunteer setting / role / dates] • [Your actual contribution] AVAILABILITY [Dates / hours / location constraints] ## Sources and method We read both official job descriptions on October 22, 2026, followed Atlassian’s Apply link to its candidate entry screen, and opened Databricks’ embedded application form. Neither supplied a closing date or cutoff time zone. Atlassian’s attachment requirements beyond the candidate entry screen were not verified. Application access at a check does not guarantee the role remains open.
